Online Auctions

An online auction is similar to our regular live auctions except that it is conducted entirely over the internet.  In effect, the software system is taking the place of the auctioneer in controlling the bidding and closing of the lots being sold.  You can still attend a live preview and examine all of the items up for auction.  After you have looked through the online catalogue, examined the items first-hand if you wish, and asked us questions about the items, you are ready to bid.  There are several ways to participate in the online auctions at Hall's:

Don't worry if you are too busy to attend an auction, or do not feel technologically competent enought to participate.  Hall's can register bids on your behalf.  With absentee bids, simply decide on your maximum bid for a particular lot and complete the Absentee Bid Form, listing your maximum bids, and fax the form to us.  Alternately, complete a form at the preview and submit it in person.  Please read the guide first.  We will register your bid in our software which will in turn attempt to purchase the lots for you at the lowest possible price, and never for more than the maximum amount you indicate.

The Online Catalogue allows you to register for the auction and place electronic Webcast Bids prior to the auction.  A Webcast Bid is similar to an Absentee Bid, but is fully administered by the software as instructed by you.  Simply click into the lot detail page, fill in your maximum bid, and click on the “Place Bid” button.  Once you confirm your bid, it takes effect immediately.  This is a contractually binding bid.  The current top bid will appear online prior to the auction (but not the maximum).

Register to bid through our Online Catalogue (you will receive a confirmation email).  Approximately one half hour prior to the auction a “Bid Live” button will appear.

As long as you are registered and logged in you will be able to participate in real-time through your computer as the auction is closing.  If you choose this option please register early as we WILL NOT be able to offer assistance during the auction.

If you are the successful bidder, you may collect your purchases in person, or have Hall's Auction Services Ld. assist you with shipping arrangements.  The price you pay will be the amount of the final bid (the hammer price) plus a buyer's premium.  Of course, no transaction would be complete without adding the GST!

Why not tune in and watch an online sale?  We attempt to operate as transparently as possible but protecting the identity of both buyer and seller.
